I Wish (Baby Shambles)

oh-oh-oh-ooooh-oh
oh-oh-oh-ooooh-oh
oh-oh-oh-ooooh-oh

I sit alone almost every night
I watch those trains roll on by...out of sight
I know it's not the same old story
it's new to me...I’d say so
it's not the only way to be

work in town and nothing for free
nothing left in this place for
likes of me out
I wish to god
just wish that I

got no money in my pocket you see
oh oh gimme no gimme no gimme no gimme no ah!
no money in my pockets you see
oh oh gimme no gimme no gimme no gimme no ah!

not the same old story
it's new to me
i would say so
but the only way to be

I’m pipin’ almost every night
I watch my dreams float by...out of sight
I wish to god but I just been stabbed oh
Alright George Deaver!

oh-oh-oh-ooooh-oh
oh-oh-oh-ooooh-oh
oh-oh-oh-ooooh-oh

Moonlight Mile (Jagger/Richards)

When the wind blows and the rain feels cold
With a head full of snow
With a head full of snow
In the window there's a face you know
Don't the nights pass slow
Don't the nights pass slow

The sound of strangers sending nothing to my mind
Just another mad mad day on the road
I am just living to be dying by your side
But I'm just about a moonlight mile on down the road

Made a rag pile of my shiny clothes
Gonna warm my bones
Gonna warm my bones
I got silence on my radio
Let the air waves flow
Let the air waves flow

Oh I'm sleeping under strange strange skies
Just another mad mad day on the road
My dreams is fading down the railway line
I'm just about a moonlight mile down the road

I'm hiding sister and I'm dreaming
I'm riding down your moonlight mile
I'm hiding baby and I'm dreaming
I'm riding down your moonlight mile
I'm riding down you moonlight mile

Let it go now, come on up babe
Yeah, let it go now
Yeah, flow now baby
Yeah move on now yeah

Yeah, I'm coming home
'Cause, I'm just about a moonlight mile on down the road
Down the road, down the road

Cedric Bixler Zavala on Deloused In Cormatorium

...You brought in Flea and John Frisciante to play a little on this (album,"Deloused In Cormatorium", The Mars Volta ). Did Rick bring them in or are you guys friends with them? He's in the video.

Yeah, we're friends with them and they just helped us cuz we needed someone last minute. He did it all in three days, John just got off the plane and...

He just played on one track?

Yeah he played on one track. He does like on Ciciatriz ESP,when it breaks down in to this ambient part, he does a lot of the affected parts. And he also does a dueling solo, it sounds so funny dueling solo, but he does like a dueling thing with Omar on there.

Like doubles it out?

Yeah, he just got off the plane, came over, and I watched them do it. It was fun.

Is it fascinating to watch Rick work with the board and pull stuff out of you guys? were you really floored as opposed to At the Drive-In stuff, was this stuff that really took you over?

Rick is more a preproduction guy. There was other people that were behind the board, but it was primarily like Omar behind the board. It was a colaboration of producers really.

Which is quite good if the label lets the guitar player do some production.

Well he knew what we wanted and Omar is just very good with a lot of that stuff. So Rick's very good with preproduction, organization of the song, telling you if the paintings crooked or not from the back of the room. I mean he's really good with the vocal stuff and kind of honing the common man's ear in to what we do, or every song would be fifteen minutes long.

That's one thing that I wanted to mention, your songs are a little longer than rock standard format now. How do you plan to overcome that barrier? Do you think that the music will just eventually soak through or will you release radio edits like a lot of other groups do.

Yeah, we do radio edits simply just to keep the powers that be happy, keeps the money flowing for us, for whatever money we need. But live that's our medium you know, and everything stretches out. It always changes, the songs don't sound the same and that's what keeps it interesting, and that's why every show is an individual show on to itself.

Flea

The Chili Peppers have had several different guitarists. How were they different to work with?

In the Chili Peppers, we've had two principal guitar players. One was Hillel Slovak who was with us when we started the band. We had a very close relationship and because of the intimacy of our relationship emotionally and spiritually, we were able to connect musically. We created a sound that was really unique, unto itself. Then, we had John Frusciante, who could relate to that sound from a place deep inside his soul. Getting together with him was a great stroke of fate. We managed to create with him a bunch of really beautiful music for the same reasons- the depth of our relationship, our earnest desire to take care with every note we play. Dave Navarro was the next. We did our One Hot Minute record with him. We didn't get as close emotionally and I feel because of that we didn't do as well as we could have musically. But, we made a record that I think is pretty good. As far as the other players, we had Arik Marshall, who is a terrific player who stepped in and rocked with us. We had Blackbird McKnight, who is an amazing funk player, just an amazing psychedelic wizard of the guitar. And, we had a guy, Jesse
Tobias, for like, three seconds for a couple of good jams.

So a good rapport with the person is pretty key?

Yeah, of course, especially in a band situation where you're with someone all the time. That's what it's all about. When you're with someone all the time, on a bus or in the studio, wherever you are, you have to love that person. You have to be able to live inside their energy and love it. Yeah, that's what it's about.

We heard that Jane's Addiction will be playing at Coachella soon. What's it like to step into an existing band like that?

For me, it's just fun. I love Jane's Addiction music, and I can get in there and play music that I love with a band that I truly admire and respect. Don't get me wrong about Dave. It's not like he's not an incredible musician. It's just that we didn't hit the spark together consistently. It had to do with what sort of relationship we were able to manifest over time. But, this Jane's Addiction thing, it's going to be fun. I'm just going to step in and rock!

Having been through the bowels of the music industry, what advice would you have for your daughter if she expressed a desire to start playing in a rock band?

I would just tell her to rock and to do her thing. Play her heart out. Let it all out. The music industry, I've never been concerned with. I've been very fortunate that it has taken care of me. Obviously, I try to have people around me that I trust and try not to get ripped off, but it's like any other business, as far as I can tell.

A few years ago in an article you said that electronica was the musical genre of the future. Do you still think so?

I don't know what I said or how I was portrayed in the magazine, but I remember that's not exactly what I said. I think I said that the things that I found the most interesting happening in contemporary music were done with electronic music. Which doesn't mean that I think it's the music of the future, because it's not the music that I play and I think the music that I play is very contemporary, fresh sounding music. But I still feel that the most interesting music is happening with electronic music, where most people are pushing the boundaries, doing new stuff. But there's some new rock bands coming around, too. There's a band that I heard the other day- At The Drive-Thru, or Drive-By, or something, [At The Drive-In] and they sounded great. I just love all music. There's no kind of music that I don't like. It's a spiritual thing. I think that everyone's got something to say. Britney Spears... .

(Red Hot)Chilli Peppers

この間聴いた、At The Drive-Thru、だったか、 Drive-By、 とかなんとか言うバンド(※At The Drive-In)は素晴らしかった。
